House Fire
Carla Ford and her family suffered a devastating house fire. They lost essentially everything and are currently in temporary housing. Carla has a 10-year-old daughter, 14-year-old son, 19-year-old son, and 10-month-old grandson. RCCBA February Lunch

WGNS Radio Show
Once a month the RCCBA participates in a WGNS local radio show. Attorneys go "on air" and answer questions from the public on predetermined topics selected by the attending attorney. This occurs on the first Tuesday of each month, from about 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. We need attorneys for March, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. Scales Project Participants
The Tennessee Supreme Court will meet in the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse to hear three cases. All the high schools in the 16th Judicial District have been invited to participate. RCCBA Wills for Emergency Personnel
The RCCBA held its first Wills for Emergency Personnel Oct. 8 and 10, 2009. A total of 45 emergency personnel and their spouses attended during the two days. Close to 150 documents were generated including wills, power of attorneys and living wills. A huge number of volunteers showed up to support our emergency personnel, 23 in all!! Many thanks to Darwin Colston, Elizabeth Fikes, Pat Blankenship, John Blankenship, Barbara Futter, Brock East, Daryl Duncan, Nick Spangler, Ewing Sellars, William Squires, David Ives, Susan McGannan, Ryann Schneider, Kelly Agee, Ted Goodman, Angela Swader, Julie Wilson , Micah Johnson-York, Don Palmer, Lori Rodas, Kandy Pierce, Joy Edghill, Linda DeBaun and Jennifer Hux. Our local bar was well represented, and the clinics were a success!

Contract Defender Services
The Public Defender's Office is seeking to contract with an attorney to provide defender services in the Juvenile Court for Rutherford County. The attorney would be responsible for representation of juveniles in detention hearings and first time offender pleas. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2009. Tennessee Bar Association
The Tennessee Bar Association filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to adopt amended Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. In light of the important public policy issues raised by the petition, the Supreme Court entered an Order on June 22, 2009, soliciting written comments from judges, attorneys, bar associations, members of the public, and any other interested parties, regarding the proposed amendments. The deadline for submitting written comments is Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
